Exploding Water Heaters Video

If you're a Discover channel fan, you may have seen the Mythbusters show. Always entertaining AND informative, this video shows the guys as they experiment with pushing ordinary household hot water heaters beyond their capacity ratings and KABOOM!

The experiment involved different sizes of water heaters. They disabled the all-important safety features of the units and cranked up the pressure.

Not only is this cool to watch, it highlights the importance of the built-in safety features that all hot water heaters must have to meet code requirements. DO NOT remove these features, and DO NOT try these experiments at home!
